Egyptian police used tear gas to try to disperse stone-throwing protesters near the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on September 14. The unrest has been continuing since September 11, when angry crowds stormed the embassy compound and tore down the U.S. flag. The protests in Cairo and elsewhere in the region were sparked by a low-budget film, produced in the United States, that mocks the Prophet Muhammad. (Reuters)
