Iraqi security forces continued fighting with Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents in Anbar Province on June 7 and 8. Clashes erupted in the towns of Garma and Sichir, north of Fallujah, and in the southern part of the provincial capital, Ramadi, where insurgents had earlier taken university professors and students as hostages. Hundreds of people have been killed in Anbar and tens of thousands displaced since the fighting began in January. (RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraq)
