New photographs have emerged of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro making a rare public appearance.
The photos -- posted on the blog of two official Cuban journalists, and on a state-run media website -- showed Castro talking with employees of a Havana scientific center last week.
Castro has been seen only in occasional photographs and videos since he fell seriously ill in July 2006 and handed power to his younger brother, Raul.
