Blast Kills Four In Southern Russia

Officials in southern Russia say a bomb exploded in the city of Stavropol today, killing five people and wounding around 40 others

Boris Skripka, a spokesman for the local administration's emergencies situations office, said the explosion occurred outside a community and sports center.

He said the bomb was planted in a cafe next to the community center.

Russian news agencies quote experts as saying the explosion carried the force of about 200 grams of TNT, the equivalent of a grenade.

An investigation is under way.
