Blasts In Daghestan Injure Two

Two blasts in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan have seriously injured two people.

The blasts took place in the center of the capital, Makhachkala, late on April 20.

Media reports said the victims were relatives of a Russian Federal Security Service officer who was killed in an attack in 2004.

Russia is struggling to contain an Islamist insurgency in the North Caucasus republics of Chechnya, Ingushetia, and Daghestan, which is also encouraged by poverty and the heady-handed tactics of Russian security forces.
