Blasts Kill 12 In Northwest Afghanistan

A roadside bomb attack has blown up a civilian vehicle in the southwestern Afghan province of Badghis, killing 10 passengers.

Officials said the explosion took place in Muqur district on March 7.

Another civilian and one police officer were reported killed in separate bomb blasts in the same region.

Badghis has seen increasing militant activity as Taliban fighters spread their influence from traditional strongholds in the south and east of the country.

Taliban militants make wide use of home-made bombs planted on roadsides to attack military forces and other targets.
