Foreigners At Huge Moscow Market Face Deportation

"Market Closed" sign at the Cherkizovsky market in Moscow on June 30

MOSCOW -- Some 150 foreigners working in Moscow's largest outdoor market have been told they have 10 days to leave the country, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Russia's Federal Migration Service announced that the foreigners -- mainly citizens of China and Vietnam -- have no officially registered employers and therefore must leave Russia.

The Cherkizovsky market, regarded as the largest market in the Russian capital, is temporarily closed for inspection.
