Sanjar Bakiev, the nephew of former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after a court found him guilty of involvement in unrest in the city of Jalal-Abad in May.
At least two people were killed when supporters of former President Bakiev temporarily seized, then were forced out of the administration building in Jalal-Abad on May 13-14.
Sanjar Bakiev was charged with helping organize the supporters of the former president and with illegal weapons possession.
The state of initial charges against him relating to June's deadly ethnic violence was not immediately clear.
Former President Bakiev remains in Belarus where he eventually fled after being ousted by a popular revolt in April.
