YEREVAN (Reuters) -- A fourth person has been found dead after an explosion tore through a rubber factory in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, the Emergencies Ministry in the former Soviet republic said.
The explosion happened on May 14 at the Nairit factory in a suburb of Yerevan, causing a blaze that sent thick black smoke pouring into the sky. Three bodies were removed after the blast.
"The emergency services have found a fourth dead person," Nikolai Grigoryan, adviser to the director of rescue services at the Armenian Emergencies Ministry, said on May 15.
The fire was extinguished, but Grigoryan said emergency services would remain at the scene "for as long as necessary" to make sure the site was safe.
Seventeen firefighters were injured trying to bring the blaze under control. The cause is not yet known, though Armenian television said a gas explosion was responsible.
