France's Sarkozy Moves To Reshuffle Cabinet After Election

French President Nicolas Sarkozy leaves a Paris polling booth on March 21.

President Nicolas Sarkozy has hinted at a "technical reshuffle" of the French government of Prime Minister Francois Fillon, following poor results for their party in regional elections.

The second-round ballot on March 21 left Sarkozy's right-wing UMP in charge of only one of France's 22 mainland regions, Alsace.

The left, dominated by the Socialist Party, is in charge of France's remaining 21 regions.

The vote is seen as the last ballot-box test of Sarkozy's popularity before the 2012 presidential vote.
