Germany has increased security at airports and train stations, after receiving what the interior minister said was "concrete" evidence of planned terrorist attacks in the country, including one this month.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said evidence of a potential attack towards the end of the month came from an unnamed foreign country.
The interior minister, speaking at a press conference on November 17, said there was reason for concern, but also said Germany will not be intimidated.
"The citizens will be able to see these extra security measures. At the same time, there will be many other measures which they can't see," de Maiziere explained. "Ladies and gentlemen, these are grounds for concern but not hysteria. We will not allow international terrorism to constrict our way of life or liberal culture."
Last month, authorities discovered two U.S.-bound parcel bombs originating from Yemen, one of which went through Cologne airport in western Germany.
