Iran Envoy Gives Solana Atom Offer Response

TEHRAN -- Iran's ambassador in Brussels has submitted Tehran's response to an incentives package offered by six world powers over the Islamic Republic's nuclear programme, the official news agency IRNA reported on Friday.

The agency quoted a senior source at Iran's Supreme National Security Council as saying the response was presented to European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's response to Solana and the (six powers') foreign ministers was submitted to Solana by Iran's ambassador to Brussels," IRNA quoted the source as saying.

The source said the response was signed by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

The offer of economic and other incentives proposed by the six -- the United States, China, Russia, Germany, Britain and France -- was presented to Iran by Solana on June 14 to try to settle a long-running dispute over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
