Iraq has signed a deal with the United States to settle claims from U.S. nationals who say they were mistreated by Saddam Hussein's regime during the 1990-91 Gulf war.
In 1990, scores of Americans were captured by Iraq in 1990 and used as human shields to deter allied air strikes, and some say they were tortured.
Iraq's Foreign Ministry said the deal -- reportedly around $400 million --- will help end sanctions imposed by the United Nations two decades ago after Saddam invaded Kuwait.
