Police say an ethnic Albanian was killed by unknown gunmen in the Serb-dominated part of the ethnically divided town of Mitrovica.
Police said 31-year-old Hakif Mehmeti was shot dead late on September 7 close to his home in the northern part of the town.
He died from his wounds later in hospital.
Police said the motives and all the circumstances of the incident are still not known.
Mitrovica has been divided into an ethnic-Albanian-dominated south and a Serb-dominated north since the end of the 1998-1999 Kosovo conflict.
