Norway has urged China to lift restrictions imposed on the wife of Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo after Norwegian diplomats were barred from visiting her in Beijing.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Raghnild Imerslund said on October 13 that staff from the Norwegian Embassy in the Chinese capital tried to go to Liu Xia's apartment on October 12 but were "stopped by officials."
Liu Xia was placed under de-facto house arrest after the award to her husband, a 54-year-old jailed Chinese dissident, was announced on October 8.
