Oxfam Urges Immediate Pakistan Floods Reconstruction

Around 10 percent of Pakistanis have lost their homes in the floods

The aid group Oxfam is urging reconstruction work to start right away in Pakistan to prevent the flooding disaster from becoming a long-term catastrophe.

Oxfam said billions of dollars were needed to rebuild schools, roads, bridges, and hospitals.

Oxfam warned there was a danger that many farmers would miss the winter planting season in September.

Oxfam also pointed out the clean-up operation would take months, meaning millions of people would be facing the colder months in temporary shelters, or out in the open.
