The joint Pakistan-India men's doubles team of Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna has reached the finals of the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York City.
In the September 8 Grand Slam semifinal, the duo, who have dubbed themselves the "Indo-Pak Express," beat Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zaballos of Argentina.
They will now face the U.S. top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan in the September 10 final.
The Pakistani-Indian pair played their semifinal match with the United Nations ambassadors from Pakistan and India sitting together in the audience and cheering them on.
Fans from Pakistan and India were also in the audience cheering together.
The pair have said they hope their cooperation on the tennis court will help inspire moves toward peace between Pakistan and India, the nuclear-armed neighboring rivals who have fought three wars since 1947 and who continue to have strained relations.
