KABUL -- An Afghan private airline plane with 38 passengers and five crew on board has crashed in the Hindu Kush mountains north of Kabul.
Interior Ministry spokesman Zemarai Beshari said the Pamir Airways plane crashed near the Salang Pass earlier today.
Officials said the plane was flying from the northern province of Kunduz to Kabul when it went down. There was no immediate word on casualties.
The British Foreign Office has confirmed that three British nationals were on board.
A spokesman for U.S. and NATO forces, Wayne Shanks, said the international force has sent aircraft to help in the search.
