Russian Police Break Up Protests, Dozens Detained

Russian police dispersed anti-Kremlin protests in Moscow and St. Petersburg today, detaining around 30 demonstrators.

About 200 protesters gathered in downtown St. Petersburg and several dozen activists attempted to hold a rally in central Moscow, defying bans imposed by authorities.

Opposition protests have been held on the 31st day of several previous months in a nod to the 31st Article of Russia's Constitution, which guarantees the right of assembly.
