Russian 'Vogue' Editor Tipped To Take Over U.S. Job

The word on the street is that Anna Wintour, "Vogue's" U.S. editor in chief, is considering retirement.

Aliona Doletskaya, the editor in chief of "Vogue's" Russian edition, has been on the short list of Wintour successors for some time now.

If she got the job, that would really be a sign of how far Russian fashion has come. "We've seen crises, we've seen currencies come and go," Doletskaya said last month. "Only strong, talented, beautiful people survive."

And when it comes to fashion, Doletskaya noted, Russians "are getting far more sophisticated."

For evidence, take Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection, a runway rumination on Dolestskaya's triumvirate of talent, beauty, and power -- complete with a nod to Coco Chanel's Russian connections.
