SPIN BOLDAK, Afghanistan (Reuters) -- A suicide car-bomber blew himself up near a border police station in the southern Afghan town of Spin Boldak, killing himself and wounding four civilians, police said.
The border crossing between Spin Boldak and the Pakistani town of Chaman is the second most important crossing on the Afghan-Pakistani border.
The bomber was apparently trying to approach the police station or a nearby checkpost when he detonated the bomb, said Abdul Raziq, chief of border police in Spin Boldak.
Violence in Afghanistan has surged to its worst level since U.S.-backed Afghan forces overthrew the Taliban in 2001, despite increasing numbers of foreign troops.
Pakistan has also seen growing violence as militants allied with the Afghan Taliban have stepped up attacks across the country.
