Suicide Bombers Attack Afghan Police Compound

Afghan officials say at least three suicide bombers attacked a police training center in the southern city of Kandahar today, but the assailants were killed before they could enter the compound.

Police said one of the suicide bombers managed to blow through a defense wall as he detonated his explosives, but the two remaining bombers were shot dead by police before they could penetrate the compound.

There were no casualties among police trainers and officers on the ground.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they had sent in four suicide bombers.
