Suicide Bombing Kills Senior Afghan Provincial Figure, Others

The city of Ghazni, in central Afghanistan

Afghan officials say a suicide attack has killed a provincial deputy governor and five others in the country's eastern Ghazni Province.

Police chief Zarawar Zahid said a suicide bomber on a motorbike targeted the two-car convoy of Deputy Governor Mohammad Kazim Allahyar while he was on his way to work, instantly killing his son and two bodyguards.

Zahid said Allahyar's nephew and a third bodyguard later died in the hospital.

Allayar, who served as provincial governor for over seven years, had survived a bombing attempt two months ago.
