Taliban Militants Kill Afghan District Governor

Suspected Taliban insurgents have killed a district governor in an attack in northern Afghanistan.

Ahmad Seroor, the governor of Nahrin district in Baghlan Province, was traveling in the province when suspected insurgents ambushed his vehicle.

His driver was also killed.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack.

Taliban insurgents are most active in Afghanistan's southern and eastern provinces but recently have expanded into the once peaceful north and west.
