Afghan Minibus Explosion Kills Members Of Same Family

Afghan officials say a roadside bomb has hit a minibus in the south of the country, killing at least nine members of the same family.

Ahmad Jawed Faisal, the spokesman for Kandahar's governor, said the blast occurred on a road northwest of Kandahar city on June 25.

Police said the family was traveling to celebrate a wedding engagement.

The dead included eight women and at least one child.

At least two men were also wounded in the explosion.

There were no details on what was behind the attack or who might have carried it out.
