Freshta Hosseini, a women's rights activist and competitive athlete, was attacked and threatened by Taliban militants. Sawsan Azizi, a recent law school graduate, says she would have been forced to marry against her will if she stayed in Afghanistan. Both women sought safety in neighboring Tajikistan, but they fear for the future of their home country and the women who live there.
