Afghan Market Bomb Kills Nine

Authorities in Afghanistan say nine people were killed when a bomb exploded at a market in the country's north.

The bomb went off in Faryab Province's Ghormuch district.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said a council member from a neighboring province was among the dead, and the other victims were believed to be civilians.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but officials suggested Taliban militants were suspected.
