Gunman In Afghan Uniform Kills U.S. Soldier, Civilian

The attack came during a visit to the Afghan special-forces training center by international troops, who have been tasked with training Afghan forces there.

NATO has confirmed that a gunmen has killed one U.S. soldier and one U.S. civilian near a military base in Kabul used by NATO-led coalition forces.

A NATO statement said three other U.S. citizens -- a soldier and two civilians -- were wounded by the "unknown assailant, who was later killed."

NATO said those killed and wounded by the gunman had been training Afghan soldiers.

Earlier on October 19, Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said the gunman was wearing the uniform of the Afghan National Army when he shot and killed at least one U.S. soldier and wounded five others at an Afghan military base in Kabul.

Waziri said the attack took place a training center for Afghan special forces in Kabul's southwestern neighborhood of Rishkor.
