Police say gunmen have shot dead a district intelligence chief in Afghanistan's northeastern province of Konduz.
A police official, Ghulam Mohayuddin, said the attack took place early on September 23 near the provincial capital, Konduz.
Ghulam Hussain, the head of the National Directorate of Security department for Chardara district, was shot dead as he was riding his motorcycle to work.
It was the second such attack in Konduz Province in less than a week.
On September 18, Amanullah Aman, the head of the provincial election commission, was killed in a similar attack.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack.
In a separate development, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said two of its soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan on September 22.
The Romanian Defense Ministry said on September 23 that two of its soldiers were severely injured while on patrol in eastern Afghanistan, and died of their injuries on September 22.
