New Afghan President Ghani Takes Oath Of Office

Ashraf Ghani was sworn in as the new president of Afghanistan at a ceremony in Kabul on September 29. The outgoing president, Hamid Karzai, inspected the troops for a last time before embracing his successor. Ghani then swore in his defeated rival in the presidential election, Abdullah Abdullah, as chief executive in a government of national unity. (RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan)
