Afghan Suicide Attack Kills 10 Police In Konduz

KABUL -- Provincial officials say at least 10 Afghan policemen have been killed in a suicide-bomb attack in the northeastern Afghan city of Konduz.

The head of Konduz Province's counterterrorism department and the head of its traffic police were among those killed in the January 26 attack, the provincial police spokesman told RFE/RL.

Officials said at least 18 others, policemen as well as civilians, were wounded when a suicide bomber on a motorcycle blew himself up in a crowded area of the city.

There was no claim of responsibility for the bombing.

Earlier on January 26, officials in the eastern province of Ghazni said a police officer and a civilian were killed in a suicide attack, which also injured several people.
