The death toll from a July 12 suicide car bombing close to a U.S. base in southeastern Afghanistan has risen to 33 people, according to an Afghan official.
The attack took place at a military roadblock near Camp Chapman in the eastern province of Khost.
Mobariz Zadran, the provincial governor's spokesman, said that all the victims are civilians.
The checkpoint was manned by members of an Afghan unit that guards the camp for the American forces there.
Camp Chapman was formerly used by the CIA to help oversee strikes against militants.
The base is currently used by foreign and Afghan troops.
