Suicide Bomber Attacks Afghan Defense Ministry Compound

Afghan security forces cordoned off the site of a suicide bombing in front of the Ministry of Defense compound in Kabul on February 27. Police said that at least nine people were killed and 13 wounded. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which came the same day as another suicide bombing in Afghanistan's Kunar Province, near the Pakistani border. (RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan)
