Twelve Killed In Turkish Helicopter Crash In Afghanistan

The Turkish military has announced that 12 Turkish soldiers have died in a military helicopter crash in Afghanistan's capital Kabul.

Afghan officials said two girls who were on the ground also died when the helicopter crashed into a house in Kabul's Bagrami district on March 16.

The Turkish military said the cause of the crash “will become clear after an inspection” by investigators.

According to witnesses, the helicopter clipped one house before crashing into another.

The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement that there was no indication of militant activity in the area at the time of the crash.

Turkey reportedly has more than 1,800 soldiers serving with NATO-led forces in Afghanistan, based mostly around Kabul.
