Anti-Taliban Fighters Train In Afghanistan's Panjshir Valley, A Renowned Bastion Of Resistance

Anti-Taliban forces take part in training in the Abdullah Khil area of the Dara district in Panjshir Province on August 24.

The rugged Panjshir Valley is famous for its natural defenses and was never conquered by Soviet forces or the Taliban in earlier conflicts.

Ahmad Masud is the leader of the National Resistance Front. He is the son of Afghanistan's slain anti-Soviet resistance hero, Ahmad Shah Masud, who fought against the Taliban in the 1990s and early 2000s until he was killed by Al-Qaeda suicide bombers. Ahmad Masud is seen here speaking at his house in Bazarak, Panjshir Province, Afghanistan, on September 5, 2019.
