YEREVAN -- Police in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, clashed with dozens of nationalists who tried to march to the presidential residence.
Law-enforcement officials say at least 37 protesters were detained, including the leader of Armenia's nationalist Tsegakron party, Shant Harutiunian.
Harutiunian's supporters marched along central Mashtots Avenue throwing firecrackers. Earlier, Harutiunian announced that he and his supporters had planned to organize what he called "a revolution," promising to blow up the presidential residence.
Mashtots Avenue was cordoned off by police units. Nine people, including a 16-year-old and eight policemen, were taken to the hospital.
