Belarusian FM In Tbilisi To Open Embassy

Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimer Makey is expected to attend the official opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Tbilisi.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimer Makey has met with top Georgian officials in Tbilisi on a trip on which he will open an embassy for Belarus.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry's press service said on December 20 that Makey held talks with Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and President Giorgi Margvelashvili on the first day of his two-day visit.

Makey is expected to meet with Georgian parliament speaker Irakli Kobakhidze and Georgian Patriarch Ilia II to discuss bilateral ties, including political and economic cooperation and trade.

Makey is expected to attend the official opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Tbilisi. Georgia's Embassy has been operating in Minsk since 2007.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry said Makey will also visit the village of Khurvaleti on the administrative boundary line with Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia.
