Russia's 'Belgorod Shooter' Gets Life In Prison

Sergei Pomazun

A court in Russia's southwestern city of Belgorod has imposed a sentence of life in prison on a man who killed six people in a shooting rampage in April.

Sergei Pomazun, 31, was found guilty of the murders and sentenced on August 23.

Pomazun shot dead three employees of a hunting store in Belgorod.

He stole at least one weapon and some ammunition and fatally shot two teenage girls as he left the store.

He then got into a car, drove onto the sidewalk, and shot dead another passer-by.

Police captured him two days later.

Pomazun resisted arrest, severely wounding a police officer with a knife.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and asked the court to impose a 25-year prison sentence.

His lawyer says he will appeal the life term.
