Body Of Pakistani Journalist Found Outside Islamabad

Pakistani journalist Syed Salim Shahzad

The body of a Pakistani journalist who was writing about links between the Pakistani military and Al-Qaeda has been found southeast of Islamabad, two days after he disappeared.

Syed Saleem Shahzad worked for an Italian news agency and a website registered in Hong Kong.

He left home on May 29 to take part in a television talk show but never arrived. His body was found on May 31 in his car in the town of Sarai Alamgir, some 150 kilometers southeast of Islamabad.

Reports said Shahzad's body showed signs of torture.

Shahzad had expressed fears Pakistan's intelligence service planned retaliation against him for his work as a journalist.
