Bombers Attack Police Compound In Eastern Afghanistan

Suicide bombers attacked a police compound in eastern Afghanistan, killing a guard and setting 25 vehicles ablaze.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the spokesman for the provincial governor of Nangarhar Province, said the attack occurred late on June 8 in Behsud district.

Abdulzai said a suicide car bomber first detonated his vehicle at the entrance to the police base parking lot.

Two other attackers then stormed in, shooting at the security forces.

Abdulazai said both attackers were killed in the shoutout with the police.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Militants have increasingly targeted Afghan security forces ahead of the June 14 runoff in the country's presidential election.
