Court Upholds Sentence Against Former Bosnian Beauty Queen In Mafia Hit Job

Bosnia-Herzegovina's appeals court has upheld a prison sentence against a former beauty queen who was charged with coaxing a Bosnian mafia boss into a trap so his rival could try to kill him.

Former model Slobodanka Tosic was jailed for two-and-a-half years for arranging a date with criminal syndicate boss Djordje Zdrale in 2006 and betraying him to his rival, Darko Elez.

Zdrale was wounded in the assassination attempt but managed to escape.

Zdrale, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for an unrelated murder, was brought from his cell to testify against Tosic.

Tosic, who was charged as an accomplice in the plot, had been awarded the "Miss Bosnia" title in 2005 at the age of 19.

She appeared on the cover of Serbian Playboy magazine in 2008 and later became a participant in the reality TV show Survivor.
