Bosnian Serb Film Distributor Won't Screen New Jolie Film

Angelina Jolie

The sole film distributor in the Serb-run part of Bosnia-Herzegovina is refusing to screen a new movie written and directed by Angelina Jolie and set during the Bosnian war of the 1990s.

Film distributor Vladimir Ljevak said he did not think Jolie's film, "In The Land of Blood and Honey," would attract a profitable audience in Republika Srpska because it portrays Serbs as villains.

Jolie's drama tells the story of a Serbian soldier who finds his ex-lover, a Muslim Bosniak woman, among sex slaves in a camp he runs.

The film is scheduled to make its full debut in Sarajevo on February 14 and is also due to be shown in theaters in the Muslim-Croat part of Bosnia.
