Britain Extradites Al-Qaeda Suspect

British authorities have extradited to the United States a Pakistani man accused of being an Al-Qaeda operative.

Abid Naseer, 26, was among a dozen men arrested in April 2009 on suspicion of preparing to cause mass casualties by bombing Manchester city center in northern Britain.

In addition to the alleged plot, he is accused of being part of a wider Al-Qaeda cell that planned attacks in the United States and Norway.

Naseer is wanted in the United States for his alleged role in planned suicide bomb attacks on the New York City subway in 2009.

If found guilty in the United States, he would face a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
