Britain has now won more gold medals at the London 2012 Olympics than at any Summer Games in the last 100 years.
The Olympic host country raised its gold medal tally at the London 2012 Games to 22 on August 7 with victories by track cyclists Chris Hoy and Laura Trott, triathlon competitor Alistair Brownlee, and the equestrian dressage team.
Hoy's victory in the men's keirin event also raised his Olympic career total to six gold medals -- making him the most successful British Olympian of all time.
Also on August 7, Russia's Ivan Ukhov won gold in the men's high jump after clearing the bar at 2.38 meters. Erik Kynard of the United States won silver while British jumper Robbie Grabarz took the bronze.
Russia's Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina won Olympic gold with a stunning duet display in the synchronized swimming final. Spain took silver and China won bronze in the event.
In weightlifting, Behdad Salimikordasiabi of Iran won gold in the men's 105 kilogram category with a total lift of 455 kilograms.
Fellow Iranian Sajjad Anoushiravani won silver, while Russia's European champion Ruslan Albegov took the bronze medal.
