MONDAY, August 8:

Kazakhstan: Peacekeeping exercise "Steppe Eagle - 2011" with participation of military personnel from Britain, United States, Lithuania, and Kyrgyzstan to be held at the Iliski military training ground near Almaty.

UN: Seventh session of the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee begins in Geneva (to August 12).

Pakistan/Tajikistan: Pakistani delegation led by Communications Minister Arbob Olamgir Khan visits Dushanbe (to August 10).


TUESDAY, August 9:

Azerbaijan/Russia: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev travels to Sochi to hold a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Russia/Finland: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin hosts his Finnish counterpart Jyrki Katainen in Sochi.

UN: International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.


WEDNESDAY, August 10:

Kazakhstan: Aktau hosts a meeting of representatives of the Caspian littoral countries: Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and the Russian Federation.


THURSDAY, August 11:

Russia: Russian Central Election Commission Chairman Vladimir Churov is scheduled to hold a press conference in Moscow on December parliamentary elections.

Ukraine/Russia: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev meet in Sochi.


FRIDAY, August 12:

Armenia/Russia: Presidents of Russia and Armenia are expected to exchange views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Astana.

Kazakhstan: Astana hosts an informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (to August 13).

UN: International Youth Day.


SUNDAY, August 14:

Pakistan: Independence Day.
