Iran/Ghana: Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi visits Ghana's capital, Accra.

World: Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas.


TUESDAY, January 8:

Afghanistan: Afghan President Hamid Karzai visits Washington, meets with U.S. President Barack Obama (to January 11).

Iran/Burkina Faso: Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi visits Burkina Faso.

World: The World Economic Forum publishes its annual Global Risks Report.


WEDNESDAY, January 9:

Czech Republic/Iran: Prague hosts the 2013 Festival of Iranian films.

EU: Brussels hosts a meeting of the board members of the European Endowment for Democracy.

Iran/Egypt: Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi visits Cairo to discuss the Syria crisis and for bilateral talks.

UK/Russia: Chatham House in London hosts a discussion titled "Sending Gas East: Sino-Russian Relations, Routes, and Regional Security."

UK: The world’s oldest underground, London’s Metropolitan Railway, celebrates the 150th anniversary of its establishment.


THURSDAY, January 10:

Armenia/EU: Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hoavik Abrahamyan visits Brussels, meets with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.

EU: Launch of the European Year of Citizens 2013.


FRIDAY, January 11:

UK/Azerbaijan: Chatham House in London hosts a discussion titled "Azerbaijan: External Relations, Internal Realities."

Czech Republic: Presidential election (to January 12).

Russia: Former Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov is scheduled to appear at the Russian Investigative Committee for questioning in the case of corruption at Oboronservis, a company owned by the Defense Ministry.


SUNDAY, January 13:

Ukraine: Lviv hosts music festival "Rock Kolyada 2013."

Ukraine/Russia: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to visit Kyiv (to January 14).
