Car Bombs Kill More Than 20 In Central Iraq

Local Iraqi officials say two car bombs near the home of the provincial governor have killed more than 20 and wounded more than 30 in Diwaniya, in central Iraq.

The officials said the bombs exploded nearly simultaneously near the governor's home.

Diwaniya is some 150 kilometers south of Baghdad.

According to some reports, the explosions were set off by suicide bombers.

It was not immediately known if the governor, Salam Hussein Alwan, was among the casualties.
