China Checking New 'Debris' Images For Missing Plane

China is investigating new satellite images of debris in the southern Indian Ocean, potentially from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

Malaysian acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein made the announcement in Kuala Lumpur on March 22.

He said the Chinese government would give more details "in a few hours."

The announcement comes as planes and vessels were searching the southern Indian Ocean for a third day for possible parts of the plane, following earlier satellite images this week that detected possible debris 2,500 kilometers southwest of Australia.

Chinese state media said the latest images were about 120 kilometers from that site.

Flight MH370 dropped out of contact an hour after leaving Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on March 8, carrying 239 people.
