China has played down a UN report that pointed to it as transit point for North Korea and Iran to exchange missile technology and expertise in violation of Security Council sanctions.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not deny the report outright.
But it said Beijing scrupulously upheld punitive UN measures against North Korea.
The report did not identify China but said North Korean-Iranian missile trade went via a country neighboring North Korea, which diplomats at the UN told Reuters was indeed China.
