WATCH: Chinese poultry factory fire kills dozens

Local officials say more than 100 people have been killed in a fire at a poultry processing plant in northeastern China.

State-run media said the fire broke out at around 6 a.m. local time on June 3 at the Jilin Baoyuan Poultry Company, in Mishazi town in Jilin Province.

It said 300 people were at the plant when the fire broke out.

The Jilin provincial government information office said on its Weibo account, a service akin to Twitter, that 119 people had died so far.

At least 54 people were injured.

The Xinhua news agency quoted firefighters as saying rescue efforts were hampered by narrow exits and the "complicated interior structure" of the prefabricated building.

A problem with the electrical system was being investigated as a possible cause of the blaze.
